Whitney Osuigwe enters this ITF W100 Sumter first-round match on outdoor hard courts as the higher-ranked player at WTA No. 195 against Ena Koike at No. 384. Osuigwe brings greater experience from WTA-level appearances and recent clay-court results, including wins in Parma and Saint-Gaudens before a Roland Garros qualifying loss. Koike, a 19-year-old, has shown strong recent ITF form with multiple victories in Takasaki and successful Sumter qualifying wins over Piper Charney and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer Obregon. The hard-surface transition and Koike’s solid 24-12 record this season create a competitive dynamic where ranking favors Osuigwe but Koike’s momentum and youth add uncertainty to the outcome.
