The municipal elections on October 9–10, 2026, feature an open contest for mayor of Liberec after incumbent Jaroslav Zámečník stepped aside. Multiple coalitions have finalized candidate lists, with Lukáš Hájek leading for Starostové pro Liberecký kraj, Zdeněk Chmelík heading the Liberecká 9 grouping backed by TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL, Tibor Batthyány for the Libe! alliance of smaller parties, Jan Hruška for the Piráti–Liberec otevřený lidem ticket, and Jiří Veselka for an ODS-linked slate. Trader consensus remains closely balanced near 25–32% on leading names because no single grouping holds a dominant polling or organizational edge, local priorities such as transport, housing, and urban planning remain contested, and the proportional system plus preference voting allow late shifts in turnout or cross-preference flows to alter outcomes.
