NFL teams enter the 2026 preseason with rosters shaped by the prior campaign's results, free-agency moves, and draft additions that set the foundation for playoff contention. Consensus among analysts highlights the Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Seattle Seahawks as frontrunners, buoyed by strong returning cores, recent division titles or deep playoff runs, and favorable schedules, while teams like the Kansas City Chiefs face steeper climbs amid roster turnover and conference depth. Training-camp developments around quarterback health, offensive-line stability, and defensive reinforcements will clarify paths for bubble squads in the AFC North and NFC North. Historical trends show that injury luck, midseason trades, and home-field edges often decide the final seven qualifiers per conference, with early-season form heavily influencing market adjustments as the 17-game slate unfolds.
