The crowded field of contenders for most assists at the 2026 FIFA World Cup reflects the pre-tournament uncertainty, with no single playmaker holding a decisive edge as squads finalize and form remains fluid. Creative midfielders and wingers such as Granit Xhaka, Martin Ødegaard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Ismaïla Sarr share similar implied probabilities near 30-34% because their teams hold comparable paths through group stages and knockouts, where deep runs amplify assist opportunities. Recent European qualifier results showed distributed contributions from these creators without a dominant leader emerging, while African and South American candidates like Percy Tau and Raphinha benefit from strong recent international showings. Late roster decisions, potential load management for veterans, and variable team attacking styles continue to balance trader consensus across the field.
