Jiri Lehecka enters this Roland Garros first-round clay-court matchup as the higher-ranked player with stronger recent momentum, including quarterfinal runs at Madrid and round-of-16 results in Rome. The 24-year-old Czech has shown an aggressive baseline game well-suited to the slow surface. Pablo Carreno Busta, returning from elbow surgery that dropped him outside the top 800, has climbed back to the top 90 through Challenger success and wild-card appearances, bringing extensive French Open experience and a solid career clay record. Their lone prior meeting favored Lehecka on hard courts earlier this year. Carreno Busta’s physical resilience after long injury layoffs and Lehecka’s current form on European clay represent the primary variables shaping trader views ahead of the May 25 encounter.
