In the Busan Challenger first-round clash on outdoor hard courts, qualifier Marat Sharipov carries momentum from straight-sets wins over Ji Sung Nam and a comeback three-set victory against Yuta Shimizu, showcasing 78% first-serve points won and 29 winners in his last qualifier match. Higher-ranked Yasutaka Uchiyama (#279 vs. Sharipov's #387) boasts an 11-5 hard-court record this year and past Busan title in 2024, but arrives off a retirement loss to Alastair Gray in Wuning last week, raising fitness questions. No prior head-to-head exists in this evenly matched encounter, with recent rain delays at the tournament adding uncertainty to scheduling and conditions.
