This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Denmark between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Folketing, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Folketing prior to their scheduled election at the end of the parliamentary term. An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Denmark and the Folketing; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**A recently formed minority coalition government and the absence of major destabilizing events make an early snap election before year-end highly improbable in traders' assessments.** Denmark held its general election on March 24, 2026, after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called a snap vote amid tensions over Greenland and U.S. policy. The Social Democrats remained the largest party despite a historically low vote share, leading to extended negotiations. A four-party centre-left minority coalition (Social Democrats, Socialist People's Party, Moderates, and Radical Left) took office on June 3, 2026, holding 82 of 179 Folketing seats and relying on external support. As of mid-September 2026, no parliamentary deadlock, confidence crisis, or significant policy rupture has emerged to prompt another dissolution. Recent diplomatic progress, including a U.S.-Denmark agreement on Greenland military cooperation announced in September, has reduced immediate external pressure without triggering domestic upheaval. Danish politics routinely features minority governments that endure through cross-party arrangements, and the current setup aligns with that pattern following the March vote. With the next regular election cycle years away and no acute catalysts evident, traders assign overwhelming probability against a snap call by December 31.
