Trey McBride enters the 2026 NFL season as the Arizona Cardinals’ clear top tight end and primary short-to-intermediate target following a record 126 receptions in 2025. New head coach Mike LaFleur’s scheme and an improved running game led by rookie first-round pick Jeremiyah Love figure to reduce overall pass volume compared to last year’s league-high attempts, though Jacoby Brissett’s history of leaning on tight ends and McBride’s established rapport with him support continued high target share. Competition from wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson, plus blocking help from Tip Reiman, will shape his role, while preseason health and durability position him for a full 17-game workload. Consensus projections place him in the 88–109 reception range, reflecting a step back from his TE-record pace amid the offensive reset.
