The matchup shifted recently when Luque's original opponent Kyle Daukaus was reassigned, pitting two veterans in need of momentum: Gastelum after a unanimous decision defeat to Joe Pyfer, Luque more cautious post-2022 brain hemorrhage. Both hit the middleweight limit cleanly, but Gastelum's wrestling and striking edge over Luque's submission threat and reach advantage (75 inches) drives the pricing, with stylistic risks for awkward chokes or Luque's check hook.
