The 2026 WNBA postseason race features the top eight teams qualifying, with Minnesota Lynx, Golden State Valkyries, and Las Vegas Aces already clinched as of mid-August. Valkyries' recent clinching via a 25-9 mark reflects their strong expansion-year form and conference results, while Lynx maintain the league's best record near 30-7. Contenders including Indiana Fever, Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, New York Liberty, and Dallas Wings occupy a tight pack for the final spots, where recent form, home/road splits, and head-to-head results heavily influence positioning. Key developments include Azzi Fudd's season-ending knee surgery for Dallas and Nneka Ogwumike's retirement announcement, alongside the August 2 trade deadline's roster impacts. Remaining schedule strength, back-to-backs, and waiver-eligible player additions through early September will shape final standings before playoffs begin.
