Samson advanced with a straight-sets win over Elena Pridankina in the prior qualifying round, building momentum from recent ITF clay successes like her Maribor run, while Pigato notched clay wins in San Gregorio and Antalya earlier in 2026 before a likely main-draw exit against Darja Semenistaja. Both players show solid recent form on the surface—Samson's second-serve edge (41%) and youth versus Pigato's experience—but no injuries or withdrawals reported, leaving traders pricing a closely contested affair amid Madrid's slow clay conditions and variable April weather.
