Top-seeded defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, world No. 1 with an elite 84.4% career clay win rate (103-19), meets No. 31 Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters round of 16 on outdoor clay. Alcaraz advanced with a straight-sets win over Sebastian Baez in his opener, signaling strong form after expressing excitement for his 2026 clay return and serve improvements. Etcheverry, a baseline grinder with a 10-2 clay record this year, rallied past Terence Atmane 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 yesterday. Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 1-0; no injuries reported, though Etcheverry's recent clay momentum adds competitive intrigue to this ATP Masters 1000 clash.
