Fifth-seed Andrey Rublev, world No. 15, meets rising Czech Tomas Machac in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell quarterfinals on outdoor clay, where Rublev has surged with straight-sets victories over Mariano Navone (6-4, 7-5) and Lorenzo Sonego (6-2, 6-3), showcasing baseline power suited to the surface. Machac, ranked around No. 20, rallied past clay specialist Sebastian Baez 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 before advancing via walkover against wrist-injured top seed Carlos Alcaraz on April 15, providing extra rest without taxing his body. Machac leads their head-to-head 1-0 from a 2024 Miami hard-court upset, but Rublev's clay pedigree and tournament momentum shape trader consensus amid no reported injuries for either.
