Severe winter weather blanketing the central US, including heavy snow, ice storms, and blizzard warnings from the Plains to the Midwest, has driven over 550 US flight cancellations by early afternoon on March 26, per FlightAware tracking. Airlines like United, Delta, and American have preemptively grounded hundreds of flights amid low visibility and de-icing delays at major hubs such as Chicago O'Hare and Denver. The National Weather Service forecasts continued hazardous conditions through evening, sustaining high cancellation rates and justifying trader consensus at 75% for exceeding the threshold by day's end, though final tallies depend on late-night operations and any operational recoveries.
