General elections are scheduled to take place in Brazil on October 4, 2026. This market will resolve according to the number of non-heterosexual candidates who win election as Senator (Senador) in the specified elections. A candidate will be considered “non-heterosexual” if they declare a sexual orientation (orientação sexual) visible on the Brazilian candidature divulgence portal (Divulgação de Candidaturas e Contas Eleitorais, https://divulgacandcontas.tse.jus.br/) on October 3, 2026, 12:00 PM Brasilia time, and that declared orientation is not heterosexual. This market will resolve according to sexual orientation declarations visible at the specified time. Future revisions, retractions, and withdrawals will not be considered. Candidates who abstain from declaring a sexual orientation on the candidature divulgence portal will not be considered. This market will include all candidates for the office of Senator (Senador) present on the candidature divulgence portal. Candidates for any other office will not be considered. A candidate will be considered to have won if they are elected to the office they are contesting, regardless of how many candidates may be elected to the same position. A candidate’s sexual self-description, rumors, and behavior outside of the candidature divulgence portal will not be considered. The gender identity of the relevant candidates will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known definitively by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to the lowest bracket. This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results and information as reported by the Brazilian government, specifically the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, TSE) (e.g., https://dadosabertos.tse.jus.br/, https://divulgacandcontas.tse.jus.br/).The closely matched Polymarket odds around 44–48.5% for 0–3+ openly gay senators in Brazil’s October 4, 2026 election highlight the absence of a clear frontrunner amid a large field of candidates contesting 54 Senate seats. Historical patterns show only a handful of openly LGBTQ winners in prior cycles, while current campaign dynamics feature limited confirmed high-profile gay or lesbian contenders and no decisive guild-style endorsements or polling surges yet. Cultural debates around representation, party alliances, and voter sentiment in key states continue to shape trader views, with outcomes likely hinging on late momentum shifts, regional results, and any surprise breakthroughs before ballots close.
