Recent developments center on the May 2025 Operation Sindoor missile strikes by India targeting alleged militant infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which followed the Pahalgam attack and ended in a Trump-announced ceasefire. One year later, the ceasefire remains in place with no major new cross-border military actions reported, yet bilateral dialogue stays frozen and trust is minimal. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s May 2026 statement reaffirming zero tolerance and decisive retaliation if provoked has reinforced expectations of rapid Indian response to any fresh terror incident or infiltration. US assessments highlight risks of renewed armed conflict in 2026 driven by cross-border militant activity, while both sides maintain heightened alert postures along the Line of Control. Trader sentiment therefore reflects the balance between sustained deterrence signaling and the absence of immediate triggers that would shift probabilities of a near-term strike.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
