Mercedes' overwhelming early-2026 dominance under new active aero and power unit regulations has propelled teammates George Russell and Kimi Antonelli to the top of trader consensus, with Russell at 43.5% and Antonelli at 30.4% implied probabilities for the Drivers' Championship. After three Grands Prix—Australia, China, and Japan—Mercedes swept every pole position and delivered multiple 1-2 finishes, as Antonelli surged to the lead with 72 points via back-to-back wins, edging Russell's 63 despite the Briton's self-described misfortunes like poor starts. The 19-year-old Italian became the youngest championship leader ever, intensifying their intra-team battle, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc (49 points, 6.6%) and others trail amid Red Bull's struggles keeping Max Verstappen (2.3%) out of contention.
