**Flu hospitalization rates during Week 31 (early August 2026) are shaped primarily by the strong seasonal decline typical of influenza outside the winter peak.** CDC FluSurv-NET data show weekly rates falling sharply after the 2025-26 season's winter maximum (peaking near 12.8 per 100,000 in late December/early January), reaching just 0.1 per 100,000 by Week 21 in late May and remaining at minimal levels through July. National surveillance maps for Week 30 (ending August 1) confirm activity at baseline "minimal" levels across states, consistent with reduced transmission driven by higher summer temperatures, humidity, and lower indoor crowding. This trajectory positions the <0.1 outcome as the clear leader in trader sentiment. Historical patterns and current monitoring indicate summer rates routinely drop to or below the 0.1 threshold, with little evidence of unusual late-season circulation or variant-driven resurgence in 2026. No recent model updates, case surges, or official alerts suggest deviation from this baseline. Resolution hinges on the preliminary FluSurv-NET laboratory-confirmed rate (adjusted for reporting lags), which traders view as highly likely to land below 0.1 given the timing and environmental controls.

The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
CDC FluView reports the weekly FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate per 100,000 population to one decimal point (e.g., 0.1). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET weekly hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate, estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.
