Trader consensus reflects this de-escalation alongside nuclear deterrence and diplomatic pressure, pricing limited likelihood of an Indian-initiated strike on Pakistani territory by year-end. Persistent risks include infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, Indian counter-terror operations, and escalating rhetoric over India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, which prompted Pakistani warnings of serious consequences in June 2026. A U.S. think-tank assessment highlighted moderate potential for renewed clashes this year tied to heightened terrorist activity, while both sides continue military modernization and regional alliances that could influence escalation thresholds.
