Verena Meliss holds the ranking edge at approximately WTA 452-454 compared to Emma Lene’s 678, positioning the Italian as the consensus favorite in this W35 Casablanca round-of-16 clay-court matchup. Both players advanced comfortably from their opening-round matches on the same surface, with Lene defeating Sarah Iliev 7-5, 7-5 and Meliss overcoming Lina Bezza 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. Recent form favors Meliss’s steadier results across ITF events, while Lene’s strong clay-court showings in Casablanca reflect solid momentum for the 26-year-old Frenchman. Limited prior head-to-head history leaves the outcome dependent on current fitness and adaptation to the slow conditions typical of North African clay.
