Ed Ruscha’s 1982 lithograph “Cities Across the Globe,” from the World Series/Global Edition, heads to auction on October 7 with traders focused on whether it clears the $600k–$1.1M thresholds. The artist’s market has shown sustained strength, anchored by the 2024 record of $68.3 million for a major painting and consistent outperformance by 1980s works on paper and prints, which routinely exceed estimates amid 78–83% sell-through rates. Recent 2025–2026 results for comparable editions and drawings underscore collector demand for signature imagery, though mid-tier lots remain sensitive to condition and seasonal competition. The upcoming sale serves as the key near-term catalyst, with resolution hinging on the final “lot sold” price reported in USD.
