Recent spring 2026 auctions, highlighted by Jackson Pollock’s *Number 7A* at $181.2 million and several other eight-figure results from the S.I. Newhouse collection, have demonstrated continued appetite for blue-chip masterpieces at the ultra-high end. However, these sales were driven by exceptional single-owner estates rather than broad market momentum, and the fall calendar lacks confirmed consignments of comparable scale. Traders see the 53% implied probability for “No” as reflecting typical seasonal patterns, where November evening sales at Christie’s and Sotheby’s can deliver surprises but often fall short of $150 million thresholds without fresh trophy lots. Any late-summer announcement of a major private collection or record-setting guarantee could quickly shift sentiment toward “Yes,” while subdued presale estimates would reinforce the current lean.
