Martinez, the Spanish qualifier, surged through the draw with upsets over top seed Valentin Royer in the round of 16 and straight-set quarterfinal win over Pol Martin Tiffon, capped by a 7-5, 7-5 semifinal victory over Daniel Rincon on April 4—bolstered by home-crowd energy in Ciutadella.
