This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Japanese government declassifies any files pertaining to extraterrestrial life and/or unexplained aerial phenomena which were not previously publicly available between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, only information from the national Government of Japan will qualify. Information from individual prefectures or municipalities will not be sufficient to resolve this market. Announcements of declassifications that are not implemented within this market's timeframe will not count. The primary resolution source for declassification will be official information from the government of Japan; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Japan’s government has maintained a cautious, case-by-case approach to any potential UAP-related disclosures, with no active national program or scheduled releases of previously non-public files through the end of 2026. In May, following U.S. PURSUE tranches that included regional sightings, Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara confirmed interest in analyzing the material and coordination with allies but emphasized decisions would weigh risks to intelligence capabilities. A March parliamentary proposal sought a dedicated Cabinet-level UAP coordination unit, yet this has not produced mandates, timelines, or declassifications. As of mid-September, official statements continue to frame any releases as conditional rather than systematic, aligning with Japan’s longstanding Ministry of Defense practice of limited public explanation tied to security assessments. Traders view these procedural and structural constraints as the dominant barrier to action before year-end.
