Juan Manuel Cerundolo enters as the higher-ranked player at No. 69, bringing strong clay-court credentials with a career win rate above 60% on the surface, fresh off a competitive ATP Marrakech run last week despite a round-of-32 exit to Kamil Majchrzak. The Argentine left-hander's baseline grinding suits Monte Carlo's red clay, where he seeks qualification into the main draw of this ATP Masters 1000. Hugo Nys, the Monegasque doubles specialist ranked outside the top 200 in singles, leverages home-crowd support but arrives with a dismal recent singles ledger, dropping seven of his last eight matches including a Davis Cup loss to Alexander Bublik in February. No head-to-head history exists, making stylistic matchup—Cerundolo's topspin-heavy game versus Nys's serve-volley tendencies—a key watch, with weather holding clear for the outdoor qualifying opener.
