Aryna Sabalenka enters her Miami Open showdown with Coco Gauff as the higher-ranked player at world No. 2, holding a 5-4 head-to-head advantage highlighted by her straight-sets semifinal win over Gauff at the Australian Open in late January. Both advanced deep in prior hard-court events, with Sabalenka dominating via her booming serve and forehand while Gauff countered with elite speed and return aggression en route to her US Open title last year. Recent Indian Wells exits—Sabalenka in the fourth round to Belinda Bencic, Gauff in quarters to Donna Vekic—underscore vulnerabilities to consistent pressure, but no injuries mar official reports. Outdoor hard-court conditions and minimal rest favor Sabalenka's power game, though Gauff's defensive prowess keeps it competitive.
