The Quebec general election on October 5 features a fragmented contest in Laviolette–Saint-Maurice, where provincial polling shows the Parti Québécois ahead overall while the Coalition Avenir Québec and Parti conservateur du Québec remain competitive in regional and rural ridings. Élodie Murphy-Gauthier (PQ), Guy Veillette (CAQ), Charles Paquin (PCQ), and Laurent Bélisle (PLQ) lead declared candidates in a riding that delivered a strong CAQ majority in 2022 but now projects a narrow margin amid vote splitting. Nomination deadlines in mid-September and limited local polling sustain even trader odds across multiple contenders, with separation likely hinging on turnout patterns, late campaign events, and how provincial momentum translates to this Mauricie district.
