Aleksandra Iankovskaia, an 18-year-old Russian, faces 22-year-old French player Nahia Berecoechea for the first time in the second round of the W35 Estepona clay-court event. Berecoechea enters with a higher career-high ranking near 363 and more consistent ITF experience, recently securing a straight-sets win in the tournament opener. Iankovskaia arrives after a three-set victory over Diana Marcinkevica and has compiled an 11-8 record in 2026 while climbing the junior and ITF rankings. On clay, movement, endurance, and baseline rallies favor the more seasoned competitor, though Iankovskaia’s youth and recent momentum create realistic upset potential in this closely matched encounter.
