Provisional results from Benin's April 12 presidential election show finance minister Romuald Wadagni securing over 94% of votes with most ballots counted, as announced by the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA), propelling trader consensus to a 98.3% implied probability on his victory as next president. Outgoing President Patrice Talon's anointed successor, Wadagni faced limited opposition after several candidates were barred from the ballot, with main challenger Paul Hounkpè conceding defeat. CENA described the outcome as irreversible, though final certification by the Constitutional Court is pending; scenarios that could shift odds include successful legal challenges over alleged irregularities or late-breaking disputes, but none have materialized amid the landslide margin.
