Wesley So holds the strongest position among contenders for the Norway Chess 2026 title, leading the standings with two rounds remaining under the event’s classical-plus-Armageddon scoring system. His recent classical draws against top opposition, including a survival against world champion Gukesh Dommaraju, combined with prior 2026 form that included an American Cup victory, underpin trader consensus reflected in the 55.4% implied probability. Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu sits second after securing two classical wins over Magnus Carlsen in the same event, tightening the race at 25.3% while demonstrating improved consistency against elite fields. Alireza Firouzja, at 18.1%, opened with strong results including a classical victory over Carlsen but has since dropped ground amid mixed outcomes in later rounds. The tight leaderboard leaves limited margin for error in the final classical and Armageddon games.
