This market will resolve according to the party of the candidate who wins the 2026 Texas Attorney General election currently scheduled for November 3, 2026. The nominees of the Democratic and Republican parties may be named in the contract for the convenience of traders. In the event that any named candidate is replaced as the nominee of their respective party prior to election day, the name in the contract will be updated and the market will resolve based on the replacement nominee of the party. If the results of the election are not definitively known by July 31, 2027, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the election according to a consensus of credible reporting. In case of ambiguity, this market will resolve based on the official results as reported by the electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election.Republican state senator Mayes Middleton leads the 2026 Texas attorney general race as the Republican nominee following his May primary runoff victory over U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, while Democratic state senator Nathan Johnson secured his party's nomination in a runoff against former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski. The open seat, created after incumbent Ken Paxton pursued a U.S. Senate bid, has produced tighter polling than historical norms for Texas statewide contests, with recent surveys showing Middleton ahead by roughly five points amid a sizable undecided share. Middleton's campaign emphasized alignment with President Trump and priorities such as election integrity, while Johnson has highlighted cross-aisle work, anti-corruption efforts, and consumer protection. Trader consensus assigns Middleton an implied probability around 78 percent, consistent with Texas Republican performance in recent cycles, though the narrower margin reflects Democratic efforts to attract moderates and independents before the November 3 general election.
