In the Barcelona Open qualifying first round on clay at Pista Andres Gimeno, No. 88 Alexandre Muller faces local wildcard Max Alcala Gurri, ranked No. 380, in their first head-to-head matchup. Muller's recent clay form shows mixed results, including a Monte Carlo qualifying win over Matteo Arnaldi before a straight-sets loss to Corentin Moutet on April 5, while Gurri enters on a four-match losing streak at ITF M25 events in Reus, Tarragona, Zadar, and Antalya—all on clay. Home crowd support and familiarity with Barcelona conditions give Gurri upset potential against Muller's superior ATP experience and power baseline game, with no reported injuries affecting either player.
