Alex de Minaur, ranked No. 7, holds a strong edge entering the Barcelona Open round of 16 on clay after a gritty 7-6(7), 6-4 first-round win over Sebastian Ofner on April 14, signaling improved form amid a challenging clay swing start. Challenger Hamad Medjedovic, No. 88 and riding a three-match qualifying heater including triumphs over Vilius Gaubas and Quentin Halys, earned his main-draw spot but faces a rankings and experience gap. De Minaur leads their head-to-head 1-0 from a January Australian Open clash, bolstering trader consensus on his baseline speed and return prowess suiting the surface despite clay not being his forte; no injury concerns noted for either, with weather stable.
