Seventh-seeded Cameron Norrie enters as the clear trader favorite against wildcard Stan Wawrinka in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell first round on outdoor clay, buoyed by reaching the Monte Carlo Masters second round last week where he defeated Miomir Kecmanovic before falling to Alex de Minaur. Wawrinka, ranked around No. 104 and in his farewell season at age 41, exited Monte Carlo in the opening round to Sebastian Baez and holds a perfect 2-0 head-to-head edge over Norrie from hard-court meetings in 2018 and 2023 Davis Cup. Wawrinka's clay pedigree shines with a French Open title and strong baseline power, but Norrie's higher ranking, youth, and fresher form on the surface drive market sentiment, absent any reported injuries or weather disruptions.
