No. 27 Arthur Rinderknech faces No. 35 Alex Michelsen in the BMW Open by Bitpanda first round on Munich's outdoor clay courts, where Rinderknech's topspin-heavy baseline game and 3-0 head-to-head edge give him a stylistic advantage. Rinderknech impressed last week at Monte-Carlo Masters, upsetting Karen Khachanov 7-5, 6-2 before a tight third-round loss to Joao Fonseca 5-7, 4-6, 3-6, signaling strong clay form. Michelsen, a flat hitter, owns a modest 6-12 ATP clay record, though he snapped a drought with a Houston R64 win over Coleman Wong before falling to Alexei Popyrin. Mild spring weather poses minimal disruption, but Michelsen's power could test Rinderknech early if serves hold up.
