In the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell qualifying final on clay, No. 88 Alexandre Muller faces No. 133 Otto Virtanen, with the Finn holding a 1-0 head-to-head lead from their 2023 Aix-en-Provence Challenger round-of-32 clash, a 7-6(4), 7-6(7) tiebreak victory. Both advanced yesterday—Muller dominating qualifier Max Alcala Gurri 6-2, 6-2, while Virtanen outlasted Aleksandar Vukic 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-4—building momentum after first-round clay losses last week in Monte Carlo to Corentin Moutet and Ethan Quinn, respectively. Muller's experience and higher ranking contrast Virtanen's aggressive baseline game and prior clay success against him, setting up a competitive matchup where surface familiarity and stamina could prove decisive for main draw entry.
