South Africa's absences of all-rounders Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk—due to injury and selection—have significantly weakened their squad for the five-match T20I series opener against India Women at Kingsmead, Durban, handing India a clear edge in trader consensus. World Cup 2025 champions India, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur with explosive openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma plus spinner Deepti Sharma, enter with superior batting depth and recent head-to-head dominance (India leads 10-6 in T20Is). Hosts South Africa, led by Laura Wolvaardt, lean on home advantage at the batsman-friendly Durban pitch, where high scores and coastal bounce favor aggressive innings. Key upcoming factors include toss outcomes, spin vs pace matchups, and series momentum as both prep for the T20 World Cup.
