Madison Keys, seeded fifth and 2019 Credit One Charleston Open champion ranked No. 18, faced qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva (No. 89) in the semifinals on green clay, their first head-to-head. Keys advanced with a gritty quarterfinal comeback over third seed Belinda Bencic (4-6, 6-3, 6-2), extending her 2026 clay record to 3-1 despite prior abdominal injury recovery from Australian Open. Starodubtseva rode a flawless 4-0 clay streak, clinically beating McCartney Kessler 6-4, 6-4 in QF for her deepest WTA run. Keys' power game and home advantage clashed with Starodubtseva's steady returns; no late withdrawals noted amid mild weather before final postponement risks.
