Elise Mertens, ranked No. 20 with an 11-6 singles record in 2026 including an Australian Open doubles title alongside Shuai Zhang, enters as the clear favorite against No. 85 Ella Seidel in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix round of 32 on indoor clay. The pair meets for the first time, with Mertens holding a significant edge in clay Elo ratings (1613 vs. 1109) and overall experience at WTA 500 events. Seidel, a German wildcard buoyed by home support in Stuttgart, has struggled recently at 1-6 over her last seven matches, while Mertens arrives off steady hardcourt results despite some higher-tier losses. No injury concerns reported; trader consensus reflects Mertens' superior form, power, and consistency on the surface.
