Top-seeded Elena Rybakina, world No. 2, holds strong trader consensus favoritism entering her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarterfinal against Leylah Fernandez on indoor clay, reflecting her efficient path—bye in the round of 32 followed by a 6-3, 6-4 win over Diana Shnaider yesterday—and superior ranking power. Fernandez earned her spot with gritty victories, routing Alexandra Eala 6-1, 6-4 before rallying from 1-5 down in the decider to outlast Zeynep Sonmez 6-2, 6-7(6), 7-6(7) in a round-of-16 thriller 24 hours ago, showcasing resilience amid a patchier 2026 form. Their head-to-head stands 2-2 on hard courts, with Rybakina's straight-sets Tokyo win last October most recent; this marks their clay debut, where Fernandez's movement could test Rybakina's big serve if fatigue factors in post-Shnaider.
