In the Barcelona Open qualifying final on clay at Pista Rafa Nadal, Pedro Martinez advanced past Pablo Carreno Busta via 6-3, 4-3 retirement yesterday, gaining home-crowd momentum as a Spaniard against Argentine Marco Trungelliti, who grinded out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Nicolai Budkov Kjaer after reaching the Marrakech ATP 250 final last week. Martinez leads their ATP head-to-head 2-0, including a recent clay challenger victory, bolstering trader sentiment in this closely contested matchup where both clay specialists showcase strong recent form—Trungelliti's eight-year semifinal breakthrough notwithstanding. No injury concerns reported; resolution follows best-of-three sets completion or walkover/retirement.
