G2 Esports entered as the top Americas seed with strong regional dominance and prior international experience, while XLG Gaming, China's second seed, arrived as underdogs making their first deep playoff run at this roster stage. Map selection favored G2's comfort on Ascent and Split, yet XLG secured the series 2-1 by winning both of those after dropping Lotus. Key roster factors included XLG's aggressive utility execution and individual performances from players like NoMan on the decider. The best-of-three format in the upper bracket quarterfinals amplified the impact of momentum shifts, with recent VCT patch changes influencing agent pools and site executes for both sides.
