Harry Wendelken, riding momentum from a runner-up finish at the Miyazaki Challenger last week where he defeated higher seeds like Tung-Lin Wu before falling to Liam Broady in the final, enters as the higher-ranked player at No. 237 against Sergey Fomin (No. 363) in the Wuning 1 Challenger round of 16 on outdoor hard courts. Wendelken advanced with a straight-sets 6-3, 7-6(8) win over Filip Peliwo in the opener, boasting a 13-4 hard-court record in 2026. Fomin grinded a three-set 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(3) victory over Moerani Bouzige but holds a middling 5-5 on hard this year following a M25 Maanshan semifinal. First head-to-head; Wendelken's superior recent form and break conversion edge shape trader consensus.
