In the Busan Challenger first-round matchup on outdoor hard courts, higher-ranked Sho Shimabukuro (No. 110) faces Ilia Simakin (No. 219) in their third career meeting, split 1-1 with Simakin's latest win via retirement in last October's Suzhou Challenger. Simakin enters with stronger 2026 form at 20-6 overall and 18-5 on hard, highlighted by a quarterfinal run in last week's Wuning Challenger before falling to Pavel Kotov. Shimabukuro sits at 15-10 (13-8 hard) after a first-round loss to Naoya Honda in Yokkaichi, though he reached a San Diego semifinal earlier this year. Both excel on hard, but Simakin's momentum and prior edge fuel trader interest in an upset potential.
