Top-seeded Yibing Wu (ATP 115), a 26-year-old right-hander with steady Challenger experience, meets 18-year-old lefty Darwin Blanch (ATP 254) in the Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open clay semifinals, their first head-to-head matchup. Wu powered through the draw, defeating qualifier Reda Bennani 6-1 6-4, former top-5 Kei Nishikori 6-3 3-6 6-1, and Daniel Dutra da Silva 6-4 7-6(4) in quarters over the past 48 hours. Blanch, a Florida native riding local support at IMG Academy, advanced via upsets including #5 Federico Agustin Gomez's retirement at 6-3 1-1 and #3 Hugo Dellien 6-1 7-5. Wu's ranking and form favor him on green clay, but Blanch's youth, momentum, and crowd edge heighten upset risk ahead of Friday's not-before-7pm ET clash.
