This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 18 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Shanghai Pudong International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/shanghai/ZSPD. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Persistent summer heat across eastern China, combined with an incoming pattern of increased cloud cover and thunderstorms, is shaping the close spread in trader probabilities for Shanghai’s July 18 high temperature.** Recent observations show daily maxima of 37–39 °C in the city, consistent with a broader regional heat episode that prompted health alerts. Forecast guidance indicates a modest cooling trend by the 18th, with models converging on a daytime peak near 35 °C under overcast skies and scattered storms that increase humidity and reduce solar heating. The tight clustering around 35–37 °C (market-implied odds of 16.5–26.5 %) reflects uncertainty in storm timing and intensity: earlier or stronger convective activity would cap the high closer to 35 °C, while delayed or lighter precipitation could allow readings to reach 36–37 °C. Lower-probability outcomes above 38 °C or below 34 °C are discounted because current model consensus and the expected weather regime make extremes less likely within the two-day forecast window. Updated model runs and official briefings from Chinese meteorological services over the next 24–48 hours will be the key catalysts for any shifts in these probabilities.
