Weronika Ewald, the 20-year-old Polish player ranked around 413-417, faces higher-ranked Czech Barbora Palicova (No. 311) in a W50 Gdansk quarterfinal on outdoor clay. Ewald holds recent momentum with a 9-11 singles record in 2026 and strong results on the ITF circuit, including a win in the Gdansk draw, while benefiting from home-soil familiarity and clay experience. Palicova enters with an 8-15 seasonal mark, recent losses to stronger opponents, and limited success on the surface despite her ranking edge.
