This is a market about the seasonally adjusted total number of job openings in the United States in August 2026, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). This market will resolve to the bracket containing the seasonally adjusted total number of job openings for the total nonfarm sector in August 2026, as reported in the monthly JOLTS report published by the BLS. The resolution source for this market will be the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey report released for August 2026 (https://www.bls.gov/jlt/), currently scheduled to be released on September 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data. Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly JOLTS report, which reports job openings in thousands of openings. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Rounding employed in the headline figure will not impact settlement, where a more precise figure is reported. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the BLS does not release the relevant figures on the scheduled date, this market may remain open up until the scheduled release time of the next JOLTS report (https://www.bls.gov/schedule/2026/home.htm). If the information is not released by that time, this market will resolve according to the figures of the most recent previous month with available data.Recent July JOLTS data showing 7.271 million openings—little changed from the downwardly revised June figure and slightly below consensus—has anchored trader expectations for August around the 7.1–7.3 million range, where the four leading Polymarket brackets each command roughly 20–25% implied probability. Persistent “slow-hire, slow-fire” dynamics, evidenced by flat hires and separations near 5.1 million alongside a 1.9% quits rate, reflect a labor market that has stabilized after earlier 2026 peaks above 7.5 million, with modest gains in manufacturing offset by declines in professional services. This equilibrium, coupled with softer nonfarm payrolls and an unemployment rate near 4.1%, keeps monetary-policy implications in focus ahead of the September 29 release, as further moderation could reinforce rate-cut expectations while resilience would support tighter policy.
