The interleague series pits the struggling Royals (around 34-47-48, fifth in the AL Central) against the Mets (near 34-46, fifth in the NL East) at Citi Field in early July. Both clubs enter with sub-.500 records and ongoing injury challenges, including Royals infielder Maikel Garcia on the IL and recent groin issues, plus Mets rotation adjustments with Kodai Senga nearing return amid other absences. Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. provides offensive spark after a two-homer outing, while Mets bats like Juan Soto and a returning Francisco Alvarez offer counterbalance at home. Recent form, pitching matchups, and lineup health will shape the closely contested games, with traders weighing home-field edge and roster availability.
