The 2026 Ottawa mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 26, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Ottawa as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Ottawa.Mark Sutcliffe maintains a commanding lead in the Ottawa mayoral race due to his incumbency since 2022, extensive name recognition, and endorsements from multiple former mayors and cross-party figures. With the October 26 election approaching, the three main challengers—councillor Jeff Leiper, homebuilder Alex Lawson, and economist Neil Saravanamuttoo—have released competing platforms on housing, transit, jobs, and rural infrastructure, yet early summer polling showed Sutcliffe ahead among decided voters despite notable undecided support and some dissatisfaction with city services. Traders appear to weigh structural municipal advantages for incumbents and the fragmented opposition more heavily than issue debates or negative campaign exchanges in recent weeks. Minor candidates like Catherine McKenney register negligible support amid the crowded field.
